| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray of vegetable oil. Next the cookware is put into an extremely high temperature industrial oven which bakes the coating into the surface. Not only will you be spared the time and effort of seasoning, but also the new piece you buy will look and perform better than if you had seasoned it at home. Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. It's two cookware pieces in one! Use the flat side for frying up pancakes, eggs, bacon, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Flip it over and use the grill for veggies, tuna steaks, chicken breasts and more!
Amazon.com Review The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box. This professional-size cast-iron grill/griddle combo from the Lodge Logic series measures 20 by 10-1/2 inches (with an actual cooking surface of 19-1/4 by 8-1/2 inches), serious enough to straddle either a campfire or two burners on your stovetop. The reversible feature of this crowd-pleasing cooker means you can use the smooth side for cooking flapjacks, eggs, and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the ridged grill side for hamburgers, steaks, and sausages. A slight slope drains fat into a generous grease gutter, and the two loop-style handles provide safe transport. After the meal is done, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately. Lodge covers the sturdy griddle with a lifetime limited warranty against defects. This pan is guaranteed to pass down from one generation to the next. --Ann Bieri

very useful September 8, 2010 Annie Thermidor (Brooklyn, New York) So far, I found it to be an awesome griddle. Be careful because it can burn things very easily depending on the temp setting. As a grill, I'm still feeling it out but it does a pretty good job. I still find the need to oven my chicken for a thorough cooking experience
theundercoversnoot@yahoo.com September 6, 2010 Nate This is the second cast iron cookware I have gotten. I was worried about it breaking like some people had happen to them with electric stoves. So I heated it up slow, so slow. I have not had a single problem with it. I have not used the grill side as of yet. After seasoning it 3 times in a row it is not stick as my nonstick cookware.
Everyone should buy one of these.
Unstable on gas range September 2, 2010 J. Cullen (Boston, MA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1HUMDE7SPRQW With all the reviews raving about this griddle, I was quite excited about my purchase. I had planned on using this on my gas range over two burners for cooking pancakes and such. The dimensions of my burners seemed to be a great match for the size of the griddle, but it turned out to be unusable. I returned it.
On many gas ranges this griddle will not lay flat, but will be tippy and unstable. The reason for this is the handle cutouts on the griddle. It is a little hard to explain so I have uploaded a video to illustrate.
If it weren't for the cutout handles, this griddle would be perfect and would work on a much larger set of stove top ranges. However, the current design limits its use for many potential users.
Other than that, the quality appears good. I have several other Lodge products and have been happy with them.
Update: I didn't measure the dimensions between the inside edges of the handles before I returned it. This would be helpful those considering this griddle. If anyone has this griddle, if they could post this measurement in the comments, that would be great.

Lodge Logic August 31, 2010 Sherrill L. Rigley It was bought for a gift but I have used it once. I was great, but a little heavy for the person it was purchased for.
warm up first! August 22, 2010 older wiser There were mixed reviews on this before I purchased it. I found that it will cook to the top and bottom edges just by warming the griddle up first. I also use a spray on oil before each use which helps with sticking, which was another comment I had read. Remember to warm it up for about 5 minutes. No problem with using it and really like it. Fits perfectly on large center burner on propane stove. I love Lodge products and like buying from Amazon products arrive on time and undamaged.
